🐍 Ariadne Waiting
This piece is part of my 'The Mundane Feminine' collection. Each piece is painted on a handmade plaster 'tavoletta' (tablet) to invoke religious and spiritual references. The woman is portrayed as a saint, stripping the religious iconography of its hierarchy and patriarchal overtones. I want to show the magnificence and beauty of women, especially in everyday situations, while also giving a sense of wonder. The Greek writing references the goddesses in Greek mythology, however she is placed in a everyday situation, sitting and eating fruit, helping us to remember the divinity within the mundane.
