🧜🏽♀️ Song for Shiva
Song for Shiva is about knowing your power. The mermaid is a depiction of beauty, however at second glance you can see her tail has teeth like a crocodile, suggesting her inner strength and that she is more than her beauty. Beside her is an embedded vintage brass trident. The great Hindu god Shiva (god of destruction and creation) carries a trident alongside him, which he uses to rid the world of evil. I used Shiva’s trident and the word त्रिशूल, (trishula/trident) as a reminder that we have the power within us to clear away (destroy) the things that are holding us back to make way (create) a better future.

Mixed Media. Oil and acrylic paint, with gold foil on a plaster arch. Featuring a vintage brass trident in an inset niche.
Approx. 51cmH x 31.5cmW x 7cmD (this is a handmade product therefore edges are uneven and all dimensions are approximate).
Please note: Treat this piece with care. It is really more of a sculpture than a painting. It is created with layers of plaster over a hand built box. Inside the box are packing peanuts (you will be able to hear them inside). If dropped the plaster may crack.
